Former British Sugar Works

Previously used for the processing of sugar beets, this 53 hectare site of derelict buildings and industrial land formed a blot on the Suffolk landscape. This highly sustainable brownfield location is set adjacent to the A14 within 2.5km of the centre of Ipswich. JG entered into extensive negotiations with both the Local Authority and the local community to promote redevelopment through the local planning process and by submitting a planning application for mixed-use purpose, in line with government policy. The final scheme was intended to support both commercial and residential use whilst protecting and enhancing the nearby countryside and riverbank.
