Commercial Street

Location: Commercial Street, Birmingham
Scale: 141 apartments including 21 affordable units, 6,000 sq ft of commercial space and six live/work units.

Set adjacent to The Mailbox – Britain’s largest mixed use building, which includes luxury apartments, hotel, restaurants, cafes, bars and shopping – this new scheme created by JG was achieved through working closely with Birmingham City Council. The successful result was achieved by taking into account the location, the design and scale of The Mailbox, and also the historic nature of the area. The experience of JG in sympathetically integrating old with new resulted in the scheme’s design fully considering the retention of two listed buildings directly fronting the site.
