The building was available as a freehold, following the retailer’s Administration Order. JG moved swiftly to acquire the property due to the commerciality of the site and contracts were exchanged within 24 hours. Simultaneously, a lease agreement was struck with Barracuda Pubs & Bars Ltd to create a ground and part first floor unit for their Smith & Jones brand. Through discussions with Ashford Borough Council JG then obtained planning consent for residential use on the remaining part first and second floors. The residential was then sold to a residential developer who subsequently created an additional nine apartments.
